We launched an exciting and flexible new Association for Coaching accredited coaching training for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, which ran from October 2025 - May 2026. This training programme enabled practitioners to develop to the level of coaching to map on their professional development needs.

The hybrid training programme commenced in October 2025, and was delivered mostly in-person in the centre of the beautiful City of Chester, just 5 minutes taxi or 15 minute’s walk from Chester mainline station. With two follow up sessions of online supervision that supported professional development to engage with coaching clients and to complete individual coaching hours. Places are limited to 12 people to ensure a personalised and engaging training experience.

The training programme leads to Individual Accreditation as a Foundation Coach with the Association for Coaching, and the sessions are delivered over the following structure:

  • 3 x two full-day teaching blocks (online and face to face to be confirmed)

  • Two online 3-hour supervision sessions offered via Zoom

Assessment for successful completion of the programme will include:

  • 50 hours of coaching practise, via submission of a coaching log

  • 3 coaching supervision sessions, via submission of a reflective supervision record. All 3 coaching supervision sessions are provided within the training programme

Plus, the following assessment activities which will be assessed through a variety of methods, including written work, observation, presentation:

  • Case study (500 words equivalent)

  • Create a continuous professional development plan for your coaching

You will develop the core skills and competencies to practice as a coach, and you can complete this stage with individual accreditation with the Association for Coaching as a Foundation Coach.

The programme will equip you with a range of coaching theories, alongside the opportunity to examine the similarities and differences between coaching and therapy. To develop your coaching philosophy, you will also explore your existing practice as a therapist in relation to your new coaching work, to help you decide if you wish to integrate coaching and therapy, or practice as a coach independently.

This flexible coach training programme provides a development route for those wanting to progress their Foundation Coach Accreditation award to Individual Coach Accreditation. This will be available as an optional extension to the core programme, once the requirements of the core programme have been completed. The details and costing of this option will be discussed with the group and outlined following that discussion.  However, it is not a requirement to continue to the next accreditation level.

Please check the entry requirements to the course, which must be met.
